Best Golf Drivers for Seniors 2018

Welcome back my friends it is time for another post! It is time to discover what the best golf drivers for seniors 2018 are. To do so I have had to call upon all my previous knowledge of this kind of club from over the years. Since beginning to play I have been through many different brands and designs. It has come to the point now where I feel very confident in judging a club for what it’s worth. For older players it is especially important to choose the right clubs. As one myself, I know it is a point in our life where we don’t want to be taking risks and playing with fire. Unfortunately this is exactly what many older golfers are doing when they step onto the course. Not because of the dangers of the game but because of inappropriate clubs. Over the years I have seen too many of my friends get hurt with equipment unfit for purpose. This is not to put down the club brands themselves but some are simply unsuitable for older golfers. The dangers arise due to the natural ageing processes we all go through. As we age our flexibility and strength can decline. This means we are not able to stretch or move as fast as we me have been previously. With a reduced range of motion and swing speed, we need a club which accommodates our ability, not hinders it.

Selecting a club based on merely looks or reputation is the wrong way to go about it. Just because your favorite PGA pro star uses a club, it does not necessarily mean it may be right for you. Incorrectly fitted clubs will result in a constant battle to control your shot and keep them under control. It may seem counter-intuitive to some but you need a club which is specific to you. That may mean one with a senior flex or lighter weight. If you trust in the process I promise it will pay off on the course with lower scores. Playing is now so much more enjoyable since I began using the right clubs for me. My game is now much more consistent and my confidence has also grown as well. With that said, I want everyone to feel the same way I do about golf. To do so, I want to show you some of the best clubs I could find for the mature golfer, enjoy!

My #1 Pick – Callaway Men’s XR 16 Driver

Best senior golf drivers 2018This club was really impressive upon review. The face is rock solid and it’s no wonder because they have updated it with a new 8-1-1 titanium. This not only makes it stronger but also faster which is great news for everyone. No matter where the ball may connect with the face, you can be rest assured it will gain a lot of speed. Combine this with the clubs high level of forgiveness and it is the perfect combination. This is as a result from the modifications made to the club for this model. The crown was widened to create a larger footprint and the moment of inertia (MOI) made bigger. As well as this, the center of gravity was altered to make it more low and deep than ever before. These updated features will be of benefit to all mature golfers.

Callaway have teamed up with the folks over at boeing. If you have never heard of them before, they are a company that specializes in making aeroplanes. This makes them masters of aerodynamics and Callaway have used that to their advantage to create a sleek head shape. Their hard work has paid off as they have created a club capable of producing very fast speeds with low drag to go with it. Boeing helped to re-design the Speed Step to reduce weight while maintaining all the effectiveness. Club face technology has also been enhanced with RMOTO. This makes the face 19% thinner with a lighter body than previous models. This saved weight hasn’t gone to weight. It has been placed somewhere far more useful – to the clubhead. This has raised the MOI even further.

To conclude, the Callaway Men’s XR 16 Driver is a stand-out club for it’s wide array of features and for it’s effectiveness on the course. It comes highly recommended.

TaylorMade SLDR Golf Driver

Being a fan of the classic style, I how this club looks. It would most certainly look the part on any course. It also has tons of great features as well like the centre of gravity (CG) which is placed forward and low down. This encourages faster ball speeds as well as low spin which will help mature golfers play immensely. A lower and more forward CG also creates a higher launch that allows for shots of a great distance. The customization on this club is also to be admired. A sliding weight has been included which is a breeze to use effectively. It has the effect of contributing up to 30 yards of shot shape with each swing. The 21 different shot shapes means there is a position for every user to enhance their game. Rest assured it will never come loose as it is firmly fixated on the track. The customization doesn’t end there however. The loft can be altered in a range or 1.5 degrees. This is made possible due to a loft-sleeve with 12 different positions.

To help with clubface alignment there is a silver button-back and markings on the crown. These can be aligned to help you create the perfect shot. This club is stunning due to it’s charcoal-gray crown which adds to the overall aesthetic appeal. TaylorMade are always innovating with their products. This has resulted in their findings that the CG is better positioned forwards. In the past it was always assumed low and back was ideal. Their willingness to produce the best clubs for their customers is a testament in itself.

The TaylorMade SLDR Golf Driver is strongly recommended to all readers. It is a great club due to the ability for customization and stellar performance aspects. It is definitely one of the best golf drivers for seniors 2018.

Cobra Men’s 2018 F-Max Offset Driver

best driver for senior golfersFresh for the new year, this club offers high level playing capabilities making it perfect for those wanting to take their game to the next level. The face has been reinforced with ti-6-4 Titanium. Such a hard material creates the ideal environment for producing great speeds even on shots which are off-center. A weight has been strategically positioned towards the heel of the club. This encourages more forgiving shots. This will be of benefit to mature golfers as accuracy can sometimes be an issue with age. Believe me, I have felt the effects of this first hand.

Cobra have made am effort to create an even lighter club. They have accomplished this as a result of making a lighter shaft. This has made swing speeds even faster with the help of swing weights. Having an alignment feature on the crown helps with accuracy. This means there is no issues with aligning the clubhead to create shots straight as an arrow. The hosel is often a forgotten part of the club. This is thankfully not the case here as there is an offset design. The launch has been made higher due to this feature which allows for greater distances. Higher levels of draw bis also result in more direct shots with fantastic accuracy.

Cobra Men’s 2018 F-Max Offset Driver has lived up to it’s potential most certainly. You will not be disappointed if you decide on this club. Highly recommended.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post. I had a lot of fun writing it. Clubs are an essential aspect of the game and the right one makes everything better. You would be surprised how much it can help once you get the right one. If you have any questions be sure to ask me in the comments. I would love to hear from you as I am always eager to talk to those passionate about the sport I love. Personally I cannot wait for the warm weather. It means more time on the green playing with my friends and family.

I was on youtube yesterday and I came across this informative video on how to hit a draw properly. A draw is a shot that is hit to the right of the target and drifts over. What conditions are necessary for this? Firstly the swing should be to the right of the ball to achieve the initial direction. Secondly, to get the ball to curve to the left, the club face must be turned inwards. If you are traditionally a slicer of the ball this technique may turn your shot into a fade or possibly even a straight shot.

For more details check out the video below. Make sure to practice this next time you are out on the course. Remember – practice makes perfect! This technique took me a while to get right but once I did it was great. There was shots I couldn’t hit before that I now felt confident in.

Talk soon, your friend

-Peter
